Wonta specializes in Social Justice Law, championing the rights of marginalized and disenfranchised groups in society.
She was called to the Bar of England and Wales in 1998 and subsequently joined the Solicitors Roll. She worked initially as a Solicitor Advocate and shortly thereafter as a Senior Solicitor for over 15 years until her return to the Independent Bar in 2017.
In her Family Law practice, Wonta regularly appears in the county courts and high courts representing victims of domestic violence in both public and private law proceedings. She also deals with ancillary relief, financial disputes, abductions, children and contact disputes amongst parents.
As a former Senior Solicitor at Disability Law Service, Wonta developed expertise in Employment Law which included advising and representing clients with disabilities and multiple protected characteristics such as race, gender and age.
She is known to have a track record of passionately negotiating reasonable adjustments for her clients in the workplace, challenging discriminatory practices, pursuing unfair dismissal claims, whistleblowing, redundancies and other employment disputes.
In her Commercial practice, Wonta focuses on contractual disputes, business partnership and shareholders disputes, injunctive relief and restrictive covenants.
As the Managing Director of Edens Grace Foundation, Wonta is also passionate about the promotion of United Nation’s sustainable development goals across Africa.
